Steak and Ale Pie

Homepride Beef in Ale Sauce can be used to make a great Steak and Ale Pie. Simply browm some beef in a pan, add the sauce then place in a casserole dish. cook gently in the oven for an hour then cover with ready rolled puff pastry for the final 25 minutes of cooking.
Serves 4
What you need
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 400g lean casserole beef, cubed
- Jar Homepride Beef in Ale Cook-In Sauce
- a sheet of ready rolled puff pastry
- beaten egg to glaze
- non-stick frying pan
- casserole dish
How to make it
- Pour the oil into a hot frying pan and add the beef and cook for 5 minutes until sealed then pour the sauce over and combine.
- Transfer the beef into a casserole dish then cook in a preheated oven at 180ºC/ Gas 4 for an hour.
- Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly and top with ready rolled puff pastry,trim the edges then brush with beaten egg to glaze and bake for 25 minutes (or as pastry instructs), until pastry is golden.
Hints and tips
- As an alternative use short crust pastry or a scone cobbler topping.
- Serve with mashed potato and swede for a hearty winter dinner.
