2 Shepherd's Pies are better than one!

For a simple homemade ready meal, brown some minced lamb or beef in a pan, add Homepride Shepherd’s Pie Cook- in Sauce and divide between two trays, top with mashed potato. Eat one and freeze one.

Serves 4

What you need

  • 750g lean minced lamb or beef
  • 2 x Homepride Shepherds Pie Cook-In Sauce
  • 600g mashed potato – made to your usual recipe.
  • non stick pan
  • 1 oven proof dish
  • 1 freezer to oven dish

How to make it

  1. Brown the mince in a pan.
  2. Stir in Homepride Shepherds Pie Cook-In Sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Divide into two baking ovenproof dishes and then cover both with mash.
  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 190ºC / Gas Mark 5 for 30-35 minutes.

Hints and tips

  • Celeriac makes a perfect addition to mash.
  • A sprinkling of cheese over the mashed potato provides a flavoursome addition to this dish.

  • I would not go to the expense of buying 2 cook in sauces for this. Just add onion (and/or any other chopped veg) and 2 Oxo cubes for each dish
