Try making a tasty chilli and potato wedge bake, just bake some potato wedges in the oven, pour over your Homepride Chilli with beef mince and then top with cheese and bake until the cheese melts.

Serves 4

What you need:

  • 4 large potatoes, washed and cut into wedges
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Jar Homepride Chilli Cook-In Sauce
  • 150g grated cheese
  • ovenproof dish
  • saucepan
  • 500g beef mince

via Asda, Sainsbury's,
Tesco and Ocado

How to make it:

  1. Place the potato wedges into a pan of hot water and simmer for 10 minutes, remove from the heat, drain and place the potatoes into the ovenproof dish and brush the oil over the potatoes.
  2. Bake in a preheated oven to 200ºC / Gas mark 6 for 15 minutes until crispy and browned.
  3. Meanwhile brown your mince in a pan, then pour over Homepride Chilli Cook-In Sauce and simmer until cooked through.
  4. Pour the chilli over your wedges, then sprinkle over the cheese and return to the oven for a further 5 minutes or until the cheese has melted.

Hints and tips:

  • If you are in a hurry try using some ready made potato wedges and cook as directed on the pack instruction.

  • The only problem with this recipe is the pouring of the sauce over the wedges I kept them separate where they maintained their texture and individual flavour thisa added to the meal .

  • I did a veggie alternative. I used Quorn Mince 350g. I also added a tin of Asda Mixed Beans in Tomato Sauce 405g. I used McCains Lightly Spiced Wedges. Very nice!

  • I always add celery, chopped onion and peppers to the mince when browning, and also a small tin of chopped tomatoes - adds more veg and it goes further.

  • I made the chilli from scratch and sprinkled sliced peppers over the top with only half the cheese - the Homepride stuff doesn't contain enough veggies for my liking :)

  • Im going to try replacing the beef mince with quorn or diced veg (im thinking peppers, courgettes etc) for a healthier veggie option.

  • It says brown your mince, but mince is not included in the what you need section, unless the mince is included in the cook-in sauce??
