To make a delicious variation on French toast, spread some Hartley’s Jam on a slice of bread, dip in some beaten egg and fry gently until golden and crisp.

Serves 2

What you need

  • 2 slices of bread
  • 2 teaspoons Hartley’s Jam, any flavour
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Non-stick frying pan

How to make it

  1. Spread the Hartley’s Jam over one side of the bread.
  2. Pour the beaten egg onto a saucer and then dip the bread into the egg until absorbed.
  3. Heat some oil in a pan and then quickly fry the bread on both sides until crisp and golden.

Hints and tips

  • For a substantial breakfast serve with some fresh berries such as strawberries, raspberries and blueberries.
  • Try using sliced brioche for delicious variation.

  • Even better, make a sandwich with hartley's jam, use a small cutter to make into a cute shape (you can probably get 2 per sandwich), then dip in the egg and fry...yummy
