For an interesting supper idea try making a tasty marinade with English mustard, honey and Oxo Beef cubes and serve on some grilled ‘D’ cut gammon steaks topped with sliced vine tomatoes and grated cheese.
Serves 4
What you need
- 4x thick ‘D’ cut gammon steaks from your local butcher
- 2 tbsp English mustard
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 Oxo Beef or Chicken Cubes
- 4 small vine tomatoes, sliced thinly
- 80g strong cheddar cheese, grated
- grill pan and foil
How to make it
- Preheat the grill to medium.
- Lay the gammon steaks in the grill pan which has been lined with foil and cook for 8-10 minutes.
- In the meantime mix together the mustard, honey and crushed Oxo cubes in a small bowl and set aside.
- Turn the gammon over and cook for a further 8-10 minutes.
- Remove from pan from the grill and baste the gammon steaks liberally with marinade, add sliced tomatoes and top with some grated cheese then return to the grill and cook for a 3 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
Hints and tips
- ‘D’ cut gammon chops are the really thick and work very well in this recipe.
- Serve with a mixed salad for a light lunch idea or try a serving with a cauliflower cheese for a more substantial supper dish.
