To make minced beef go further and create a tasty recipe idea add Paxo Sage and Onion Stuffing mix to a pan of browned minced beef , add hot beef stock and leave to simmer. Place the beef mixture in an ovenproof dish and top with sliced tomatoes, then a layer of mashed potato and finally sprinkle over some grated cheese. Bake in a hot oven until the potatoes have browned and the mince is hot.

Serves 4

What you need

  • 500g lean minced beef
  • 50g Paxo Sage & Onion Stuffing Mix
  • 850ml hot beef stock
  • 4 tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • 500g mashed potato (shop bought or your own recipe)
  • 75g grated cheese
  • non-stick frying pan
  • ovenproof dish

How to make it

  1. Heat a non-stick frying pan and add the minced beef and stir-fry over a moderate until the mince is browned.
  2. Add the Paxo Sage and Onion Stuffing Mix to the pan with the hot beef stock and simmer for 15 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  3. Place the beef mixture in an ovenproof dish and top with a layer of sliced tomatoes and then spread over a layer of mashed potato and fluff up with a fork.
  4. finally sprinkle over some grated cheese then bake in a preheated oven 200ºC/400ºF/Gas Mark 6 for 30 – 35 minutes or until the potatoes have browned and the mince is hot.

Hints and tips

  • Serve with seasonal vegetable for a substantial supper dish
  • Try using a sweet potato mash as a change from mashed potato.
