Instead of icing a sponge cake with butter cream or icing, why not mix up a sachet of Angel Delight and apply liberally to your favourite sponge recipe. It’s quick and easy to make and you can choose from a selection of flavours. Great for decorating birthday cakes!

Serves 8

What you need

  • 1 sachet of Angel Delight, any flavour
  • 300ml cold milk
  • 1 large sponge cake (6-8 portions)
  • 1 serving plate

How to make it

  1. Make up the Angel delight with milk as directed on the pack instructions. Chill in the fridge for 10 minutes.
  2. Slice the sponge cake in half and spread half of the Angel Delight over the base and then place the other sponge on top.
  3. Use the remaining Angel Delight to decorate the top of the cake.
  4. Serve with some fresh fruit.

Hints and tips

  • Angel Delight can be poured into a piping bag with a nozzle and then can be piped onto the sponge cake.
  • For a delicious treat decorate the top of the sponge with some fresh fruit such as strawberries or raspberries.

  • This is a simple idea that looks like something quite special! Look forward to trying this for my son, as he doesnt like the usaual jam/cream filling in standard sponge cakes.
