Apple Filo

Take some filo pastry and layer with Ambrosia Devon Custard, a sprinkling of cinnamon and sliced apples then bake for 25 minutes for a delicious twist on a strudel!

Serves 6

What you need

  • 3 large sheets of Filo pastry
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 150g Ambrosia Devon Custard
  • pinch cinnamon
  • 2 dessert apples, peeled,cored and thinly sliced
  • baking tray

How to make it

  1. Preheat the oven to 200ºC/400ºF/Gas 6.
  2. Brush each filo sheet with melted butter (reserving a small amount to finish off) then layer the sheets on top of each other.
  3. Spread the custard over the pastry and sprinkle over some cinnamon.
  4. Add the apples and then roll the pastry up and brush with melted butter and place on a baking tray.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and crisp.

Hints and tips

  • Try adding rasins or nuts for added taste.
  • Use puff pastry for a different experience!
  • Great for using up any leftover custard.

  • made this on Saturday eve as part of a Valentine meal i made for myself and hubby .. literally took less than half an hr to make from start to finish .. very moreish .. first time ive worked with filo pastry and i assure you it wont be the last its yummy .. I guess the kids should have a taste of it next time .... or should they ?lol
