For a simple twist on traditional red cabbage just add cooked bacon and apple to Haywards Red Cabbage with a spoonful of honey for a great accompaniment to any roast dinner.

Serves 4

What you need

  • 2 rashers of bacon, trimmed and diced
  • Haywards Red cabbage
  • 1 apple, diced
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • black pepper
  • non-stick frying pan

How to make it

  1. Fry the bacon for about 4 minutes then add the apple and continue to cook until the apple is soft and the bacon browned.
  2. Drain the Haywards Red Cabbage and then stir into the bacon and apple.
  3. Heat the mixture through and then stir in a tablespoon of honey and season with black pepper.
  4. Mix everything together and serve hot.

Hints and tips

  • Try smoked bacon for a slightly different taste.
