Filo pastry sheets wrapped around Paxo Stuffing and sausage balls with a little freshly chopped apple and red onion are a fantastic canapé idea.
Serves 10
What you need
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 red onion, finely chopped
- 1 apple, peeled, cored and diced
- 1 pkt Paxo Stuffing Mix, made up as directed
- 150g sausage meat
- filo pastry sheets
- non-stick frying pan
- baking tray, lightly greased
How to make it
- Preheat the oven to 200°C/400°F/Gas 6.
- Heat the butter in a pan and add the onion and gently fry for 5 minutes until soft then add the apple and cook for a further 3 minutes.
- Place the stuffing and sausage meat into a bowl then add the onion mixture and mix well to combine.
- Roll the mixture into balls about the size of walnuts then wrap them in small sheets of pastry and twist at the top like a parcel.
- Place the parcels onto a baking tray and cook for about 15 minutes until golden and cooked through.
Hints and tips
- For a Festive treat serve with cranberry sauce.
- The parcels can be brushed with melted butter which helps to seal them and also gives a glossy finish to the pastry.
