Marmalade Bread and Butter Pudding

This is a great recipe for using up leftover bread and a fantastic take on an old favourite just butter some bread then spread with Robertson’s Golden Shred marmalade, place in a dish then pour custard and cream over and bake until golden.

Serves 4

What you need

  • 4 thick slices bread, brown or white
  • butter
  • 4 tsp Robertson’s Golden Shred marmalade
  • carton of ready- made custard
  • 150ml double cream
  • 1 ovenproof dish, lightly greased with butter

How to make it

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 170ºC/325ºF/Gas 3.
  2. Butter the bread and spread with Robertson’s Golden Shred marmalade, cut into quarters then layer into an ovenproof dish.
  3. Mix the custard and cream together in a jug and then pour over the bread.
  4. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden.

Hints and tips

  • Try adding some dried fruit to this recipe such as sultanas or raisins.
  • For a special occasion add some chunks of chocolate between the layers of bread and this will result in a fabulous chocolaty orange flavour.
