For a perfect treat and weekend breakfast fun make up some pancakes using McDougalls Plain Flour, a pinch of salt, an egg and milk then top the pancake with a funny face created with fresh fruit.

Serves 4

What you need

  • 100g McDougalls Plain Flour
  • Pinch salt
  • 1 egg
  • 300ml milk
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • selection of fruit such as kiwi, banana, oranges, raspberries, blueberries and pineapple.
  • non-stick frying pan

How to make it

  1. Blend the McDougalls Plain Flour and salt together in a bowl, make a hollow in the centre and add the egg. Gradually add the milk and whisk until all flour is worked in and the batter is smooth.
  2. Heat a lightly oiled pan until hot and pour in enough batter to cover the base of the pan. Cook for 1-2 minutes on a medium heat until underside is golden brown. Turn over or flip pancake and cook the other side for a further minute. Keep the pancakes warm in the oven until they are all cooked.
  3. Get creative and arrange the fruit on the pancake to make funny faces.

Hints and tips

  • Try serving with a spoonful of natural yogurt or low fat crème fraîche.
  • Sprinkle the fruit with cinnamon for a change.
