For a fantastic way to use up leftover doughnuts just place them in a lightly greased ovenproof dish and top with a spoonful of jam, a handful of raisins and some chocolate buttons. To complete cover the doughnuts in Ambrosia Custard and bake in a moderate oven for 30-35 minutes.

Serves 4

What you need

  • 4 doughnuts, any flavour
  • 2 tbsp jam, any flavour
  • 50g raisins
  • 1 small pkt of white or milk chocolate buttons
  • 1 can of ambrosia custard
  • ovenproof dish, lightly greased

How to make it

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 170ºC/325ºF/Gas 3.
  2. Cut the doughnuts into bite sized pieces then layer into an ovenproof dish.
  3. Dot the jam over the doughnuts then sprinkle over the raisins and chocolate drops.
  4. Pour the Ambrosia Custard over and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden.

Hints and tips

  • For an extra fruity twist try adding some chopped banana or raspberries instead of the raisins.
  • This recipe also works well with brioche.
