I made this

For an economical and hearty meal add some diced potatoes and carrot to a pan with some Bisto gravy and stewing steak and cook gently until the steak is tender.

Serves 6

What you need:

  • 6 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 4 medium carrots, peeled and diced
  • 200ml Bisto Gravy Granules, made up as directed
  • 2 x cans stewing steak
  • salt and black pepper
  • saucepan and lid

via Asda, Sainsbury's,
Tesco and Ocado

How to make it:

  1. Place the potatoes and carrots into a pan and cover with water then bring to the boil and simmer for 10 minutes until just tender.
  2. Drain the vegetables and return to the pan with the Bisto gravy and stewing steak.
  3. Cover the pan and simmer gently for 20 minutes until heated through and the vegetables are tender.
  4. Season with salt and pepper before serving.

Hints and tips:

  • As an alternative try using fresh stewing steak and simmer gently for about two hours until the meat is tender.

  • First time I've used canned stewing steak which to be honest was just as nice as fresh meat. I wasn't sure when I first saw and smelled it, but once I added the bisto it all turned out right. Will happily make again.
