Here is a tasty twist on standard cheese straws just add a layer of Hayward’s Silverskin Onions and grated parmesan cheese.
Serves 8
What you need
- 2 sheets ready roll puff pastry
- Hayward’s Silverskin Onions, sliced
- parmesan cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- baking tray
How to make it
- Preheat the oven to 220°C/425°F/Gas 7
- Take a sheet of puff pastry and cover with a thin layer of sliced Hayward’s Silverskin Onions then sprinkle over some grated parmesan cheese.
- Place the second sheet of pastry on top and press the edges gently to seal it together.
- Cut into thin strips about 1cm/½in thick then twist the ends of the strips and lay on a greased baking tray.
- Lightly brush with egg and add a further sprinkling of parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until crisp and golden.
Hints and tips
- If you like beetroot you can replace the onion with Hayward’s Beetroot instead.
