A trifle without jelly so it’s ready to eat almost immediately.

Serves 6

What you need

  • ginger cake
  • 2 bananas
  • small can of pineapple chunks, drained (juice reserved)
  • 1tbsp dark rum
  • Ambrosia Custard
  • whipped cream
  • chocolate flake
  • large trifle dish

How to make it

  1. Slice the cake and put around the bottom and sides of a large trifle dish.
  2. Slice the Bananas and arrange over the cake along with the pineapple chunks.
  3. Mix the juice from the pineapple with the rum and pour over the cake and fruit.
  4. Cover with a layer of Ambrosia Custard and whipped cream.
  5. Decorate with some crushed flake and serve chilled.

Hints and tips

  • If you leave it in the fridge for a while before serving the juice will soak into the cake.
