Fancy making your own pasties? This is a simple and tasty recipe to do just that with Bisto.
Serves 4
What you need
- 450g lean minced beef
- 100g potatoes, finely diced
- 100g onion, finely diced
- 100g swede, finely diced
- 1tsp crushed black pepper
- 40g Bisto Squeezy Instant Roast Gravy
- 300ml boiling water
- 2 packs ready rolled shortcrust Pastry
- 1 egg
- baking tray
How to make it
- Add the mince to a pan and fry until browned and drain off any liquid then add the potatoes, onion, swede and black pepper.
- Make up the Bisto Squeezy Instant Roast Gravy with the boiling water and pour over the mince. Bring to the boil then turn down the heat and simmer until the stock has almost been absorbed. Leave to cool.
- Cut the pastry into 4 equal rounds using a saucer or small plate to cut around.
- Place a quarter of the filling onto one half of each pastry circle leaving a gap around the edge.
- Brush the pastry around the edge with beaten egg and carefully fold over to form a pasty then pinch the edges to seal.
- Place the pasties on a non-stick baking tray and brush with the remaining egg then bake in a preheated oven at 200°C/400°F/Gas 6 for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
Hints and tips
- Serve with mashed potato and extra veg for a full meal or take to a picnic with salad.
